This ore specimen originated from the North Comstock Lode, North Ophir Mine. The silver-gold ore was mined from a 35 food wide vein exposed in the workings located not more than 250 feet from the original Comstock discovery made in Ophir Canyo, "Ophir Diggins", June 1, 1859
